23 Jan Taking My Time
For the next week or so, I’ll be dedicating all my time and energy to getting the Hagerstown House ready to move into and Tuesday was my first full day there. I expected to hit the ground running, so to speak, but the day went very differently.
I had a couple of different contractors in for various small projects and my sister and her girls came over to lend a hand at tackling some cleaning. You would think this lined up for a super busy and productive day.
Since purchasing the house, I have been like a whirling dervish whenever I’m there. The need to get everything done quickly while working on a list a mile long has been driving me at this breakneck pace. And it’s been necessary. Every time I complete one project, two more spring up in its place.
But today I found myself wanting to do more thinking and talking than physical work. I realized I needed someone to bounce ideas off of, especially when they are right in the house with me.
So Allison and I spent a large portion of the day looking over different items I need to purchase, projects that I am getting ready to tackle, and just bouncing ideas back and forth. Sometimes you need a person with a different perspective to look things over.
And you know what? It was a surprisingly productive day, despite the lack of projects being checked off the list. I realized that outside of a few last projects, there are many more that I need to take my time with and think through exactly what I want before I charge in like a bull in a china shop. I would rather get it just right the first time than second guess myself later.
